DWC golf outing a success!

Forty golfers had their eyes to the skies on the morning of Friday, July 24, wondering if the rain would be a problem for the 2015 Inaugural Divine Word College Benefit Golf Outing at Timberline Golf Course, in Peosta.

It wasn’t and at the end of the day, the event raised more than $5500 for the DWC Student Scholarship Fund, which, to varying degrees, benefits every student.

“It was great,” said Mark Singsank, associate director for Development, who organized the event. “We had a nice number of golfers, the weather turned out to be wonderful and we raised some nice dollars for our students.”

The ten foursomes teed off after a brief delay at 1:20 pm and wrapped play by 6 pm. Eight more people joined them for a steak dinner at 6:30. Then came the awarding of flag and flight prizes and the 15 silent auction items, highlighted by an autographed Hawkeye football and basketball, an electronic tablet and 10-inch TV.

“Special thanks go out to our sponsors for their tremendous support,” Singsank said. “They were the key to the day’s success. We will be doing it again next year, for sure!”
